The short film fever hits Canberra for the tenth year, opening Saturday 20 – Sun 21 March with the best International and Australian short films on offer presenting the capital’s audiences with the most creative, innovative and award winning shorts films on the festival circuit today.

Flickerfest is also pleased to be screening Canberra film Shockwaves (Directed by Serge Ou & produced by Michael Tear) on opening night. Shockwaves was a highlight of Flickerfest’s 2010 Australian Competition, and the only Australian film selected for prestigious Tampere Film Festival in 2009.

The screening will be followed by a glamorous catered after-party in the Dendy foyer, featuring complimentary beverages from our beverage partner’s Rosnay Organic Wine, Coopers beer and Jameson Whiskey, as well as organic Phoenix Juices.

New name for Network ?

Following the Network’s AGM on 16^th February 2010 we would like members to vote on a possible name change for the organization. Members are asked to vote on whether or not they would like the name changed to Film ACT. Vote yes for the change of name or vote no to retain the existing name.

Votes close on Wednesday 24^th February 2010. Please have your say and cast a vote. Email your votes with your membership number to the network at admin.actfilmmakers@netspeed.com.au

The change of name is part of a re-branding that the Network seeks to implement in 2010. This accompanies the organisation’s move to Belconnen Arts Centre in 2010.

Focus On Ability 2 - film comp

Cash prizes for 5 minute videos.

Produce a video (5 minutes maximum length) which will raise awareness of the ability of people who have a disability. The underlying theme of your entry should be Focus on Ability.

Videos received by the last mail 30th June, 2010, will be made available for viewing on this website. Viewers will have the opportunity to vote on line for their favourite video.

The Annual General Meeting will be held at the Network Office at 6pm on Tuesday 16 February.

There are three general Committee positions, which are open for election, as well as the positions of President and Secretary.

The nomination form for these positions is available for download. Nominations must be received at the Network Office by 2pm Friday 12 February.
